  • The Critic mind pt 1

    Most people are so quick to criticize others. They attack people for what they eat and what they do not eat;
    what they drink or what they do not drink;
    what they wear or what they do not wear.

    The main questions I usually ask are:
    ·         Who makes the rule?
    ·         How competent are you to make that rule?
    ·         If your rule is born out of your mind, why should I follow your rule?
    ·         Isn’t your mind limited to just your perception of reality overtime?

    Okay, can one man make rules for everyone? If our individual knowledge is
    limited by our perception of reality, how then can one man decide what life means for everyone else? I know you must be thinking in your mind right now why laws and believes are thus instituted. Well laws and believes are relative. What is wrong here in Nigeria is totally right half-way around the world (grinning you know what I mean). So just because your believes are different from others, does it mean you have to criticise them? I was a Christian by birth so I can understand the influence of environment on believes. The Muslims, Traditionalists and Buddhists etc, can all relate to this. However after getting a personally understanding of God, then I could understand what being a true Christian is.

    Many are lost in a maze of disbelieve. While others are still walking in the streets of religion and self-righteousness parading themselves as saints without blemish, too holy to be associated with others. Speaking directly to everyone who begs to listen to wisdom as she cries loudly weeping at stupidity and foolishness; begging you come and drink of knowledge and eat of understanding and feast on wisdom. ‘A simple meal eaten in love, is better than a feast where there is hatred’ no matter how holy you claim to be, a supposed sinner (from your condemning point of view) who shows love is holier than you are [Romans 14:8] cause how then can you say you are holy if you don’t love your neighbour; how then can you say you are holy if the taste of gossip melts in your mouth like chicken breast? How can you say you are holy if you scorn your neighbour’s imperfection? I weep at how quick you forget that its only he who has ‘NO SIN’ that is allowed to think of casting a stone.

    If all sins are equal in the sight of God how then can you condemn another for adultery when you lie, cheat or scorn, even in the condemnation itself you sin by disobeying God’s law of love

    To stand before God holy is to fulfill the law of Love. Every other law is summed up in love. Love overlooks the wrongs that people do, just as our Heavenly father overlooks our wrongs. He who is born of flesh is flesh, he who is born of spirit is spirit and he who is born of God is God, and as God is love so are we.

    Christians should not focus on criticising the dress code of others or what they eat or drink everything was created by God. Yes certain ways of life may seem sinful but in earnest they are not. The major rule with the grey area of Christian code of conducts is ‘sin is when you go against your beliefs and personal convictions’ if your heart is right with the word of God then you are good to go.

    But still the most important law is still love, if your personal convictions with enough self-control would lead your neighbour astray because he/she doesn’t have your level of self-control isn’t it best you forfeit such habits? For what better display of love than such sacrifice. And one who can’t give such sacrifice yet, shouldn’t also be condemned for where is love if one is condemned and another is loved.

    i know most critics would marvel at how quickly they can tear down and attack my statements. The job of a critic is easy but irrelevant. Criticism has been in existence since the beginning of time, yet i find that there is still no professional course on criticism; neither is there a set convention; why? because critics are the most irrelevant people in the world. they aim to magnify themselves by tearing down others. they lack creativity and have no sense of originality. I know the urge to criticise may be overwhelming at times; it may even be as strong has your sexual desire, but you have to resist such foolishness.

    It is better to help build someone than to tear someone down.

    It is even better to teach by example than to fold your arms in total ignorance and vomit such stupidity at someone who is trying to be creative, original and build life.

    A wise person once said "it is better to make mistakes, than to fake perfection"
